Manus Regional Processing Centre – Access to Medications

3 November 2017

Claims that previous residents of the former Manus Regional Processing Centre (RPC) do not currently have access to medical services and prescribed medicines are not correct.

Due to the closure of Manus RPC on 31 October 2017, services can no longer be provided at that location.

IHMS continues to provide medical services to refugees and non-refugees at the IMHS clinic at the East Lorengau Refugee Transit Centre (ELRTC).

All people prescribed medication, including medication for mental health issues, were provided a 28 day supply by IHMS when they received their Health Discharge Summary prior to closure of the Manus RPC. This was provided to ensure that people would have access to required medicines during the transition of services from the RPC to the ELRTC.

IHMS encourages all previous residents of the former Manus RPC to access the medical services available to them at the East Lorengau clinic.
